Not to be confused with the Devil May Cry video game series; Devil May Care is the new James Bond novel penned by Sebastian Faulks.  This novel comes six years after  Raymond Benson put down the mantle; and although Faulks’ novel is only a one off it’s a welcome return to have Bond back in classic literary form.

Devil May Care is set during the Cold War in 1967 and in Ian Fleming’s original continuity, following The Man With The Golden Gun; Bond is widowed and vulnerable but remains heroically gallant and libidinous.

For those of you who have read Faulks’ World War I centric Birdsong it is an extremely moving read; sexy, heart tugging and cerebral.  Given his track record I am extremely curious to find out what Mr. Faulks has in store for 007.

Devil May Care will be available globally on May 28th and the marketing machine is in full swing including a myspace page complete with a theme song contest and wallpapers of the cover art.
