This is to me is the biggest ploy to get money out of gullible consumers. Anyone who believes the reasoning behind this “Soundtrack” and buys it, is a dumb cunt. “Juno B-Sides: Almost Adopted Songs“ is a 15-track collection of songs that did not make it onto the original soundtrack. As Director Jason Reitman explains,
None of these songs made the movie, but they are all essential members of the Junoverse.
FUCK YOU REITMAN!
Here is the official track listing:
1. Twentieth Century Fox Fanfar - Kimya Dawson
2. Me and You - Barry Louis Polisar
3. My Wandering Days Are Over - Sebastian
4. Kite - Mateo Messina
5. Viva la Persistance
6. Little Baby - The Bristols
7. I’m Into Something Good - Jr. James & The Late Guitar
8. Meet The McGruffs - Mateo Messina
9. Once I Loved - Astrud Gilberto
10. All I Want Is You - Kimya Dawson (solo)
11. Learning the Game (single version) - Buddy Holly
12. Meet the Lorings - Mateo Messina
13. Besame Mucho - Trio Los Panchos
14. You Can Have It All 0 Yo La Tengo
15. Zub Zub - Ellen Page
I saw “Zub Zub” and instantly thought of that Ewok song that got cut out of the new revision of “Revenge of The Jedi.”

Comcast has begun compressing HDTV shows in order to deliver more HD channels to you while using the same amount of bandwidth. They didn’t use to do this before, but now, when compared to Verizon FiOS, the channels are grainy and blocky and full of artifacts—a result of shoving three channels into a space where only two previously occupied. A guy at AVSForum measured how the new bitrate stacks up against Verizon.

DVice has a side-by-side of the FiOS vs. Comcast comparison as well, and things look pretty fucking ugly.
The forum poster says that the compression isn’t too horrible with still images, but gets really bad when stuff moves around.
The greatest differences are seen with movement. With slow movement on Comcast, the first thing you notice is added noise and a softer image, as fine detail is filtered from the picture signal. The greater the rate of movement, the more detail you lose and the more noise you see. With intense movement, you see more blocking and skipped frames. In VideoRedo, I noticed that a number of frames in the FiOS signal simply did not exist in the Comcast signal during motion intensive scenes. This may be responsible for the stutter and excessive motion blur seen with some video sequences on Comcast.
To Comcast’s credit, I saw little to no difference on movie channels such as HBO, Cinemax, and Starz. I did see some blurring and reduced detail during fast movement on Starz, but the recordings from Cinemax and HBO were virtually identical, even on action movies such as 300 and Gladiator. When there was blocking on the Comcast feed of Cinemax, that blocking was also on the FiOS feed.

Bloody Disgusting reports that Machete is still in the works and that Rodriguez will be directing.
We ran into Danny Trejo at this past weekend’s HorrorHound Weekend in Indiana where the popular genre actor told Bloody-Disgusting that Robert Rodriguez is still working on getting Machete off the ground and that he hopes the director will be ready when he finishes another project he is currently working on. He also confirms that Rodriguez will in fact direct the film, and not just produce it. In addition, Trejo breaks the news that Dimension Films is looking to turn MACHETE into a trilogy! Watch for more on this as it develops. After being betrayed by the organization who hired him, an ex-Federale (Trejo) launches a brutal rampage of revenge against his former boss.
“Once Upon A Time In Mexico” was on this weekend. Damn that’s a fun movie!

Even though some fans have criticized the teaser trailer for featuring more computer generated effects than most had expected, production designer Guy Hendrix Dyas assures io9 that Indiana Jones and the Kingdom of the Crystal Skull will be mostly CGI-Free.
There really wasn’t much CGI. We built all the sets… We built all of the [moving stone staircases, converging stone pillars and other pieces] so it was very nice.
Steven Spielberg estimated during production that 30% of the visual effects would be CGI, but mostly for elements such as backdrops and rotoscope removal of the visible safety wires during stunt sequences. Apparently, the finished film will contain only “a couple hundred” effects shots, compared to Michael Bay’s Transformers which featured almost 650 effects shots or Sam Raimi’s Spider-Man 3 which featured almost 1,000 effects shots.

The nerds strike back! Or so they think…
Star Wars nerds are in a tizzy over changes The Weinstein Company has made to the upcoming documentary Fanboys, and they are not taking it lying down. From the Stop Darth Weintstein site:
The Weinstein Company has ignored the vocal outcry from Star Wars fans around the globe, all demanding that they release the original version of Fanboys… The Weinstein Company thinks that we will stand idly by while they turn a movie that celebrates Star Wars fans into a movie that mocks them.
And what are they going to do about it? They are going to picket the soon-to-be-released Superhero Movie.
*Facepalm. This sort of empty threat is kind of like saying if you don’t get a date with Jessica Alba, you’ll take Bea Arthur hostage.
Kids, why not picket a real movie that people may actually give a shit about instead of this horrible slapstick drivel that gets churned out in two weeks on a meager budget? Might I suggest protesting the Morgan Spurlock flick Where in the World is Osama Bin Laden? Sure, it has gotten pretty bad reviews, but with a title like that, you are bound to get noticed.

Although PlayStation 2 / 3 and Xbox 360 owners have been living the dream for months, Wii owners can finally circle a date on their calender to undoubtedly be sick: June 22nd. As we expected, the title will indeed be adding Nintendo’s darling to its tour ’round the consoles, but just like those pesky Ticketmaster fees, things aren’t going to be all peaches and cream during the checkout process. For starters, Wii purchasers will be forced to swallow the “no downloadable content” and “no online multiplayer support” pills, and after those are down, they’ll be forced to shell out $169.99 and know that their Wiimote won’t have anything to do with the instruments (unlike Guitar Hero III’s Wiimote-controlled axe). And no, your GHIII guitar most definitely won’t play nice with Rock Band. Yes, that is the sound of Alex’s expectations being crushed.

First there were the host of PS3 gaffes. Then there was Spider-man 3 — yeah, I went there. And now this. Sony, will you ever learn?
ZDNet is reporting that Sony has just dropped it’s pay-based “Fresh Start” program. Allow me to elaborate — are you interested in a new Sony Vaio? Great. Care to order that without all the horrible trial programs and other crap you will never use and basically just ends-up cluttering your system? Well…
Sony has the nerve to offer a $50 “Fresh Start” option, which “scrubs” the machine clean before shipping it your way.”
Yeah… doesn’t make sense. Period. So bowing to pressure, and chalking it all up to an “internal miscommunication,” Sony backs away from the “Fresh Start” fee and continues to get skewered on the Internets. Great work!
And I won’t even get into the rest of the bashing that both Sony and its VAIO division take in the rest of the report.
What’s worse? Sony’s Mike Abary, Senior Vice President of the VAIO division, makes its mea culpa but then proceeds to make this jewel of a quote… to a JOURNALIST!
We heard the message loud and clear,” Abary told me. “VAIO is the poster child for negative experiences people had [with trialware]. We recognize that, and we acknowledge it. We’ve been really beat up by this issue. We’re listening and we’re taking action.”
Wow. Ballsy statement there, sir.
You know, stories like this remind me of just how much I hate PC trialware, etc. Good thing I found a computer that doesn’t come loaded with shit programs and hasn’t crapped out after 6-months like my countless other systems.
It’s called a Mac!
Oh, and Mr. Abary? Take a cue from Phil Harrison: get away from Sony. Fast.
